Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley to Host Public Meetings on Future of Frankville School Property
The Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley is inviting residents to attend upcoming public meetings to discuss the future use of the former Frankville Public School.
On February 23rd, 2026, Council approved the purchase of the former Frankville Public School for $325,000. The sale officially closed on May 25th, 2026. With the property now under municipal ownership, the Township. is looking for residents’ input on the future use of the property to best serve the community,
“Acquiring the former Frankville Public School presents the Township with a generational opportunity, and we are please that we were able to retain this valuable property in public hands. The facility is well maintained, offers many useful amenities, and can be economically retrofitted to meet provincial accessibility standards.
While no decision has been made regarding its future use, Council has discussed a few possibilities. One option is relocating the Township’s main office, as our current location in New Dublin is limited in space and functionality and would soon require massive investment to meet accessibility standards. Another option is creating a community hub where various agencies and service providers could co-locate.
I highly encourage residents to review all the materials available on our website and engage in this opportunity to provide us with valuable feedback. The Frankville property will likely mark a significant chapter in the Township’s history,” said Brant Burrow, Mayor of Elizabethtown-Kitley.
As part of the public consultation process, the Township is presenting three options for consideration:
- Relocation and consolidation of municipal officesÂ
This option would relocate the Township’s main administrative office to the Frankville school and consolidate services currently split between the New Dublin Road and Toledo - Development of a community-use space
This option would repurpose the Frankville school as a community hub, to potentially offer residents with gathering spaces, library, recreational and fitness programming, seniors’ activities, educational workshops, after-school programs, and other professional services. - Community input and alternative ideas
Residents are encouraged to share their ideas for how the property could be used. Feedback gathered through the consultation process will help inform Council’s decision.
