Equipment Operator
3-Month Temporary Contract
$28.14 - $32.18 per hour (Pay Grade 3) 2026 Rates

The Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley Public Works Department is seeking one (1) 3-Month Temporary Equipment Operator to work out of the New Dublin facility and/or the Toledo facility.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Public Works, the Equipment Operator is responsible for the following:

  • Regular road maintenance activities such as road grading, pothole patching, road shoulder maintenance, roadway sweeping
  • Road construction activities, using heavy equipment such as graders, excavators and compactors
  • During the winter season, plowing, sanding/salting of municipal roadways, both gravel and paved
  • Tree trimming and removal along municipal roadways and municipally owned properties
  • Cleaning and maintaining culverts, ditches, catch basins, storm sewers systems
  • Sidewalk sweeping and general repair
  • Install and maintain road signs, guard rails, and other safety devices
  • Traffic control as needed
  • Maintain all department equipment and facilities in good repair
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Hand or the Director of Public Works

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Grade 12 diploma is preferred but a combination of education and relevant experience may be acceptable.
  • Knowledge and experience working in and around construction sites and various road maintenance activities
  • Experience operating a variety of heavy equipment, including grader, backhoe/loader and excavator.
  • Class “DZ” Licence mandatory
  • Snow plowing and roadway de-icing experience considered an asset
  • Ability to work as part of a team and able to work without close supervision
  • Mechanical aptitude and dexterity considered an asset
  • compliance with safety requirements

General Labourer
3-Month Temporary Contract
$23.04 - $25.93 per hour (Pay Grade 2) 2026 Rates

The Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley Public Works Department is seeking one (1) 3-Month Temporary General Labourer to work out of the New Dublin facility and/or the Toledo facility.

The General Labourer provides versatile manual labour and operational support across Public Works activities, including roads, parks, and waste management operations. This position assists Equipment Operators and the Landfill Site Attendant in the completion of daily tasks related to municipal infrastructure maintenance, landfill operations, and general groundskeeping.
