Watermain Flushing in Brockville

Residents are advised that the Brockville Water Systems Division will begin its seasonal watermain flushing program on April 1st, 2026, continuing through September.

This routine maintenance program will impact portions of our municipality located within Zone A (Brockville West from Rivers Avenue to Elizabethtown-Kitley to Happy Green Acres).

Flushing is an important part of maintaining a safe and reliable drinking water system. It helps remove sediment from pipes, confirm proper hydrant operation, and improve overall system performance.

While flushing is underway, residents in the immediate area may experience:

  • Temporary Discoloration: You may notice "cloudy" or "rusty" looking water. This is caused by the high-velocity water stirring up and cleaning out deposits. It is an aesthetic issue and does not pose a health risk.
  • Fluctuations in Water Pressure: You may notice a slight drop in pressure while crews are working nearby.

Residents are encouraged to:

  • Check Before Use: Before doing laundry or using the dishwasher, run your cold water tap for a few minutes to see if the water is clear.
  • Clear the Lines: If you experience discolored water, run the cold water tap (preferably a laundry tub or bathtub without a screen) for 5–10 minutes or until it runs clear.
  • Avoid Hot Water Use: Try to avoid using hot water while the water is discolored to prevent the discolouration or sediment from entering your hot water tank.

Work will take place Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
