Public Safety Alert: Stolen Stop Signs
We want residents to be aware that stop signs have been stolen from several intersections in our community. This reckless and criminal act is not a joke. It puts everyone at risk.
Removing traffic signs creates a serious hazard for all road users. Without proper signage, drivers may unknowingly enter intersections at high risk of collisions, which could lead to serious injury or loss of life.
Stealing road signs is a criminal offence with serious legal consequences. Offenders may be charged with:
- Theft (Criminal Code of Canada, Section 322)
- Mischief (Section 430) for willfully damaging property or endangering life
- Criminal negligence (Section 219) especially if the theft results in harm or death
If you see a missing sign or suspicious activity, contact our office or the OPP immediately.
Let’s keep our roads safe. This is not a prank. It's a crime!
