Honouring the Victims of the Tumbler Ridge Tragedy
The Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley has lowered its flags to half-mast in recognition of the recent devastating events in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.
Small rural communities across the country share a special bond, and we mourn the loss of many lives as we acknowledge the overwhelming impact this tragedy has had on the people who call Tumbler Ridge home.
Mayor Burrow shared these sentiments:
"On behalf of Council and the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the community of Tumbler Ridge and anyone effected by the tragedy that has unfolded there. At a time like this, distance does not separate us. Our flags are at half-mast as we stand with you, mourning the unimaginable losses you have suffered. We also offer our thanks and deep respect to the staff and first responders who courageously intervened to save as many lives as possible."
Flags will remain at half-mast for the next several days as we collectively honour those who were lost.
