Located at the scenic Lyn Pit (9 Lyn Valley Road), our community swim program offers safe, structured, and engaging swimming lessons for all ages. Whether you're introducing your toddler to the water or helping an older child build their skills, we’re here to support swimmers at every level.

2025 FAQs About Our Swim Program
Lyn Pit is located at 9 Lyn Valley Road, just off the Main Street in Lyn. Signage is for Lyn Valley Conservation Area.
Do you offer lessons for all ages?
We offer lessons for all ages. Parents are required to be in the water with children under 3 years.
What time are lessons offered?
Lessons are offered for 30 minutes every weekday for a 2 week session with time slots between 9AM and 1PM. Swimmers will be provided with a timeslot after registration.
Am I able to choose the time of my child’s lesson?
Lessons are scheduled according to levels and times are generally not flexible. We do our best to keep family groups as close together as possible.
Do you offer lessons on weekends or evenings?
Lessons are only offered on weekdays in the mornings. No afternoon, evening or weekend lessons are currently available.
What do I need to bring to swimming lessons?
All supplies will be provided during your or your child’s lesson. Please bring sunscreen, towel, goggles if wanted, bug spray and any other supplies you/your child may require.
Are lifeguards on duty during lessons?
Parents are responsible for watching their children during lesson periods (9AM - 1PM). No lifeguards are on duty at this time.
The water is tested weekly by the Public Health Unit and is monitored to ensure safe swimming. If the water test fails, updates will be posted on the township’s website and Facebook page.
Who are your lessons affiliated with?
The Red Cross has made the decision to suspend their swimming program and transition all lessons into Lifesaving Society programming.
The Lifesaving Society and Red Cross have created a press release explaining this decision which can be viewed at: lifesavingsociety.com
Individuals who were previously enrolled in Red Cross Levels can bring their report cards to instructors at the beginning of the session to get both Lifesaving and Red Cross Levels.
Do lessons run during thunderstorms and/or rain?
Lessons run during any rain. Lessons do not run during thunderstorms, with lessons starting 15 minutes after the last sound of thunder or lightning.
Payments are expected on the first day of swimming lessons, or brought to the beach between 9AM and 4PM the week prior. Cash and Cheques are accepted. Cheques can be made out to the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley. E-transfers are not accepted at this time.
Where can I swim during lessons?
During lesson times, swimmers are not allowed on the dock. Please swim on the outside sides of the noodle buoy.
Fish and wildlife may not be fed at any time. Fishing is also not permitted on the beach area.
Parking is located on the outer parking lot or through the gates. Gates are locked at 4PM and all vehicles must be removed from the inner parking lot before this time.
